What is the purpose of NPT threaded flange?

Steel grade A105 - is a carbon steel undoubtedly often used in piping components, flanges and fittings. Noteworthy is the fact that it is a weldable steel.
Application: grade used for oil and gas transmission, petrochemicals, power plants, pressure vessels, etc.
