Information

Socket Weld (SW) fittings belong to the group of high-pressure forged fittings, where the pipe is welded into a recessed socket. The socket welded to the pipe creates a leak-tight piping system, ensuring maximum safety, durability, and reliability. The Socket Weld (SW) system makes it easy to select the required pressure class for the installation. Every fitting is permanently marked with its size, material grade, heat number, and pressure class. All Socket Weld fittings are available with a 3.1 material certificate.

A105 carbon steel is widely used for piping components, flanges, and forged fittings. It is designed for service at ambient and elevated temperatures in pressure systems. Like other low-alloy steels, it offers good machinability and excellent weldability.

There are limitations for the use of A105 material. The weight of a forging manufactured from A105 should not exceed 4540 kg. Heavier forgings are produced in accordance with ASTM A266.

A105 is commonly used for Socket Weld fittings, elbows, tees, couplings, unions, flanges, and other forged piping components.

Typical applications include oil and gas transmission, petrochemical plants, and power stations.

Equivalent material grades: 1.0460, C22.8, P245GH, P265GH.
