Information about the Weldable Pipe Cap

Pipe Caps

Pipe caps are installed at the ends of pipelines to close them. The caps are butt-welded directly to the pipe.

The pipe cap is made of A234 WPB steel, which is suitable for use at medium and high temperatures. It is a standard grade used for manufacturing pipe fittings. This grade is more commonly used abroad than in Poland. Polish equivalents of this grade include K18, A106 and St45.8. The WPB designation means: W – weldable, P – pressure, B – minimum yield strength. A234 WPB is a very popular material for joining carbon steel pipes. This grade is used in pressure pipelines.

The advantages of this steel grade include good weldability and good cold and hot forming properties.
