What is a Stub End?

Stub End 2" SCH40 304L Stainless Steel is used for the installation of a loose flange according to the EN standard or a Lap Joint flange according to the ANSI standard. Stub ends are available in short and long versions. To select the correct stub end, it is necessary to know the pipe size to which it will be welded. Stub ends are most commonly manufactured from stainless steel.

How to Install a Stub End?

To install a stub end, slide the loose flange or Lap Joint flange onto the pipe, move it a few centimetres away, and weld the stub end to the pipe. The welded stub end retains the loose flange in position. Repeat the same procedure on the second pipe section. The two pipe sections can then be connected by bolting together the two loose flanges.

Another name for a stub end is a lap joint stub end according to DIN 2642.
