Information

• SANKYO self-lubricating slide bearings are manufactured from high-strength bronze with strategically positioned solid graphite lubricant inserts. The graphite is arranged to match the sliding direction. The bronze carries the load, while the solid lubricant provides continuous lubrication throughout the bearing's service life.

  The graphite inserts must be able to lubricate the bronze sliding surface. During operation, a thin micron-thick graphite film spreads across the bronze surface. Therefore, an appropriate operating clearance between the sliding surfaces is always required for the bronze-graphite bearing to function efficiently.

  The maximum recommended operating temperature is +300°C. The bearings are manufactured at approximately 1000°C.

  For operating temperatures above +100°C, additional clearance should be provided to compensate for thermal expansion.

  Maintenance generally consists of inspecting wear every 6 months to 2 years, depending on operating time and load. Re-lubrication is recommended whenever the bearing is dismantled. Do not remove the existing solid lubricant layer. Continuous grease injection is not required, provided all application requirements for graphite-filled bronze bearings are met.

  Machining

  SANKYO bronze is easy to machine. In general, machining characteristics are very similar to standard steel. No special tooling is required, but sharp, preferably new cutting tools should be used.

  For HSS or carbide tools, the use of cooling lubricants is recommended.

  For rough milling, leave approximately 0.3 mm of machining allowance, as with standard steel. During rough milling, use a low feed rate and small cutting depth.
