The resistance of wear-resistant steel plates comes from an unusual production process involving several stages:

Hot rolling – the plate heated to a temperature of approximately 1200°C passes through a rolling mill which gives it its shape.
Hardening – heating the plate to a high temperature and then rapidly cooling it in oil or water.
Hardfacing (optional), i.e. special, harder materials are applied to the surface of the plate, e.g. filler materials, creating an additional layer with better properties and greater resistance.

The use of wear-resistant steel in areas exposed to abrasion can increase the service life of the product by several years, thereby reducing the risk of repairs and related downtime. How to weld wear-resistant steel plate?

ESAB OK Tubrod 14.03 wire with the addition of nickel and molybdenum is suitable for welding wear-resistant steel plate. The weld will be strong and have impact toughness. It is important that you use the appropriate welding technology. Ensure preheating, control the temperature, and then cool slowly.

Another way of joining wear-resistant steel plates is to make holes and connect the elements with bolts. When is this applicable?

Such a connection can be used in the manufacturing industry for hoppers and belt conveyors. Wherever components are exposed to rapid wear through friction, pressure and impact. We then need to use a hard material, while a bolted connection allows installers to quickly replace a worn component and minimise downtime.
